Join Chita Rivera memoir co-author and Emmy Award–winning TV commentator and arts journalist Patrick Pacheco for an evening celebrating Rivera’s life and iconic career. American Dance Machine for the 21st Century will perform roles created and made famous by Rivera working with dance legends Jerome Robbins and Bob Fosse. See “America” from West Side Story, staged by Nancy Ticotin who performed Anita in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. For the first time since the premiere of Chicago see “All That Jazz” as created by Bob Fosse, staged by Lloyd Culbreath (DANCIN’ and Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life) and Lenora Nemetz who understudied Rivera in the role of Velma Kelly. Janine LaManna who understudied Rivera will perform Kiss of the Spider Women. Gain insights as Pacheco shares highlights from Chita: A Memoir and see how dances are transferred to a new generation of dancers through on stage coaching by Culbreath, Nemetz, and Ticotin.
Due to a medical concern, Chita Rivera is unable to be with us and sends her love.
